Stiles goes about his day while worrying about Derek's well-being.

August 18, 2015
Beacon Hills

Stiles rose early and hit a couple of stores right after they opened: first, the Macy's outlet to pick up some pajamas for Derek. How does a grown man not even own a pair of--? No, probably better not to think about that one. But, with his favorite Sourwolf mysteriously unwell, Stiles was doing all he could to take care of him.

Once he got to Derek's loft, Stiles had managed (somehow) to bully the ailing werewolf into pajamas and made him breakfast--waffles and eggs were excellent comfort food, and Derek seemed to be bolstered by them. That was encouraging, but it still didn't explain what Derek was going through. So, once he'd seen the guy back to sleep, Stiles headed for the Animal Clinic.

Deaton had known nothing, despite a conversation in which Stiles had grown increasingly impatient with the man's often cryptic, excessively (in Stiles' view) enignmatic manner. Still, the doc had assured Stiles he knew nothing that might help, but that he'd try to find out what he could. Stiles left pissed. Grateful in a way, but pissed.

He hated when a lead ran dry.

And then what? The day was wearing on. He hung around Derek's loft, being more quiet than at most times in his life so as not to wake him. He used the time to read what he could online, to fire off a few emails. Eventually he made Derek some lunch, promising to return for dinner.

Then he hit the sheriff's office to talk to his dad. The sheriff was (probably not unreasonably) skeptical about Stiles' requests for information about Liam's alleged brother... and while Stiles would certainly never reveal incriminating information about his dad, suffice to say that with a concerted effort he managed to obtain certain unofficial information that could be unofficially shared with Liam on the DL.

So, Stiles contacted Liam to let him know. Then he went to see Lance because... sometimes you just needed a shoulder and such. It'd been a hell of a day.

Later, Stiles sits with a phone in his hand--a lifeline in case the wolves needed help. And Derek needed help. Stiles wasn't sure that Derek would thank him for involving the outsider in this, but... if no other answers were forthcoming...

Could Stiles afford not to?
