In a glimpse of the World of the End, the Beacon Hills Pack makes a chilling discovery at Eichen House.

In the World of the End, some time after the departure of champions from our world...
Eichen House, Beacon Hills

The air in Eichen House always tasted stale, especially to the heightened senses of the pack. It wasn't a place most would choose to go unless they had to. But necessity dictated that it became one of the secure, defensible structures in Beacon Hills-- not only did it still have plenty of supplies after what happened, it also had accommodations that even the hospital didn't.

"Soo, stay close." Jackson glances to the catboy, already advanced halfway down the hall, before looking back behind them and making sure Liam keeps up. "Lydia's here."

He could smell her perfume, a rare luxury to be sure, but one that ceased to have much value after things fell apart. The most important purpose it served was to reassure Jackson, and the rest of the pack, that they would be able to locate her, even without the once-ubiquitous tech they used in younger days.

It wasn't like her to suddenly just lose herself in Eichen House, especially after the news came that a couple of their own hadn't been seen and were impossible to find for just about the last half-day. It was like her to leave the cryptic message. But it must have been a hell of an impulse that drove Lydia to come to this place so suddenly.

Liam, in his wolf form as usual, steps lightly along the tile floor, sniffing with keen senses. His face looks a bit...sour, for lack of better word, but it always looks like that. The way he moves, it could be forgiven to call it prancing, even if he'd never admit it. But suddenly, the wolf bristles and tears off into the darkness.

"Liam!" Jackson calls after him, then shakes his head and wolfs out. His features shift, the claws pop, and he nods to Soo, who instantly moves to Jackson's side as he rushes in Liam's wake. "Make sure he's safe. You're faster than me."

Wordlessly, Soo dips his head and then really shows his speed, blurring into the darkness and leaving Jackson behind. It may only be seconds, but clearly time is of the essence. Something is wrong.

The room is largely abandoned, having been looted of all it had to offer, once a surgery theater and now...Liam whines as he smacks his massive form against the wall, but he doesn't stay down for any time at all. Soo bursts through the doors and draws in a quick, shocked breath, then forces himself past the shock, past whatever this is, to move to Liam's side and make sure he's okay.

Jackson arrives right after Soo, skidding to a halt just inside the doorway and staring to the table in the middle of the room.

Lydia has been strapped to it, with the most grotesque figures standing over her -- things that clearly should not be, lanky and obscene, with appalling features mostly obscured by pieces of metal: a four-eyed bronze gas mask, some sort of helmet with tubes winding out of it, a stoic and barely-featured facade...and fingers, too long, outstretched at where Liam had clashed with the wall. The one standing close turns to the three at the door.

Lydia opens her mouth and, for the first time since Jackson can remember, unleashes a scream from the pit of her stomach.

Jackson snarls, growls, and leaps into the fray, with Soo and Liam close behind.
